I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT 94549), specializing in working with children and adolescents. I also work with adult individuals who have experienced trauma, dealing with depression and/or anxiety, and other life stressors. My practice is in Costa Mesa, CA in "The Esplanade" complex. My secondary office is located in Santa Ana, CA.
I am a graduate of California State University of Fullerton and have extensive experience in working with children and adolescents in foster care, adoptive families, and children who have experienced multiple trauma (i.e., Sexual Abuse, Emotional/Psychological Abuse, Neglect, Domestic Violence, etc).
I am a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), credentialed through the Association of Play Therapy. I am also a certified Experiential Play Therapist (EPT), which is my main approach in working with children who have experienced many kinds of psychological issues including neglect, trauma, sexual abuse, aggressive outbursts, and physical abuse by allowing children to express their feelings through play. Play is the language of children in therapy same as words are the language for adults in therapy. Children act out problems/concerns through behaviors because children are not able to fully communicate their needs in words. I have received both supervision and training from Dr. Byron and Carol Norton, developers of the Experiential Play Therapy Model in Greeley, CO.
